THE REGISTAN

The Registan is the historic heart of Samarqand, Uzbekistan. Its name means "sandy place" in Persian, reflecting its origins as the city's central public square where merchants traded, royal proclamations were announced, and public ceremonies unfolded along the Silk Road. People at Registan Square seem to exist in a parallel universe compared to the rest of Samarqand. It feels as though a fairy tale from One Thousand and One Nights has come to life. The vivid mosaics and magnificent architecture perfectly complement the unique atmosphere, making the entire square feel timeless.
